familea is a socially engaged association with over 120 years of tradition in the Basel area. We operate over 40 daycare centers and a day structure, children's and youth homes, the foster care center, and a women's counseling center. Children, families, equal opportunities, and integration are at the center of our work.
The residential living of familea has 56 places for children and adolescents aged 5 to 18 years or older, who are cared for in seven living groups of 8 places each. They are accompanied, supported, and challenged in coeducational groups with different age structures throughout the year. All children and adolescents attend public schools or a training facility.
For the Hirzbrunnen residential group, which accommodates psychosocially burdened children and adolescents between 13 and 18 years, we are looking for a limited time for a
Social Educator FH/HF 60% for maternity leave from November 1, 2025, to March 2026
You are a resilient, open, and empathetic person; linguistically skilled and flexible with a heart, and you bring a resource- and solution-oriented attitude to fulfill this demanding task. Your positive basic attitude, complemented by humor, also carries you through crisis situations in everyday life. Furthermore, you are characterized by an empathetic and trustworthy manner, which allows you to find access to children and adolescents at eye level and build sustainable relationships with an adequate proximity-distance relationship.
With your expertise, you are able to quickly and effectively establish an effective working relationship in the helper system and support children and adolescents in a participatory process on their way. As an employee, you are jointly responsible with a dedicated team of 6-7 people for the following tasks:
- Accompanying children and adolescents in the residential group, in their everyday coping, in finding and implementing a perspective, and in crisis management
- Resource- and solution-oriented key person work including interdisciplinary collaboration in the client system (and case management)
- Independent and creative coaching of young people in promoting self-responsible life design
- Administrative tasks such as writing reports and protocols, written correspondence in the client system, and maintaining group documentation
- Active and appreciative participation in the team and taking responsibility for cross-group collaboration in various working groups, camps, and leisure activities
- Motivated participation in the team during change processes and creative problem-solving
- Taking over departments and/or cross-group areas of responsibility
What you bring:
- You have a degree as a Social Educator FH/HF * and preferably have professional experience in the residential setting of child and youth welfare
- You have experience in key person work and interdisciplinary work
- You appreciate irregular work assignments and hours (including night and weekend shifts)
- You are characterized by your initiative, independence, and reliability
- You enjoy and have humor in dealing with children and adolescents
- A high level of social competence, motivation, and resilience are among your strengths
- You have solid computer skills (MS Office)
- You hold a driver's license category B (advantageous)
