Social Worker at Dielsdorf Prison 60 - 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measures enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The main department of Zurich remand prisons (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional detention, investigative and security custody. One of these prisons is Dielsdorf Prison (GFD). It houses detainees in investigative and security custody, serves short and substitute custodial sentences in a separately managed department, and offers space for a total of 57 female inmates. The accommodation of women with their small children up to about 18 months old is also possible.
For the social services department at Dielsdorf Prison, we are looking for a responsible, dynamic, and team-oriented personality starting June 1, 2026.
Your tasks
- Resource-oriented counseling and support of incarcerated persons in various areas of life such as housing situation, finances, and social insurance
- Planning and coordination of stay arrangements, reintegration, or transition management (e.g., organization or mediation of housing offers, work partners, and external agencies, transfer to penal and measures enforcement)
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with internal departments such as medical service, correctional officers/caretakers, psychiatric-psychological service as well as with external agencies such as criminal investigation authorities, probation and enforcement services, social welfare offices, social insurance, KESB, etc.
- Further development of the social services department in remand custody
- Participation in working groups and projects such as the pioneering pilot project on remand custody in the Canton of Zurich / Canton of Bern
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in social work or a comparable degree
- Ideally professional experience in correctional services, working with mandated clients, or in similar fields
- Independent, reliable, responsible, and careful working style
- High social competence and psychological resilience as well as empathy and assertiveness
- Flexibility and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Fluent German in spoken and written form, knowledge of other languages is an advantage, as well as good IT user skills
