The General Internal Medicine Service (SMIG), attached to the Department of Medicine , manages, diagnostically and therapeutically, adult patients presenting a problem or condition related to internal medicine, in collaboration with other HUG services.
The JUL 41 unit provides diagnosis and treatment for patients with General Internal Medicine, dermatology, and angiology diseases, emphasizing all applicable measures to slow, stop, and cure the progression of their pathology and coordinating interdisciplinary care.
Job Description
You independently and under medical delegation provide personalized and comprehensive nursing care to patients of all ages and in situations with varying levels of complexity. You can analyze clinical situations and adapt to the context and unforeseen events. You maintain a confident stance with physicians to ensure quality patient care.
You welcome, support, and provide care to internal medicine patients and patients with angiological and dermatological pathologies.
You independently or under medical delegation perform the dressing changes for specific dermatology dressings (including complex dressings and VAC therapy). Depending on wound evolution, you adjust care protocols in consultation with the medical team. You actively contribute to optimizing care by proposing improvements in wound management.
In addition to clinical activity, you play a central coordination and interface role within the unit. As a key contact for the care team, medical staff, and external partners, you streamline pathways, anticipate logistical needs, and facilitate daily organization.
You contribute to efficient care by minimizing interruptions, managing priorities, and relaying essential information. Your assertive and structured approach allows the team to focus on clinical care and patients to benefit from quality support in an organized setting.
You meticulously apply the standards of the PTP organization.
Your adaptability and eagerness to learn enable you to handle specific care needs and fully assume your nursing role alongside the multidisciplinary team.
You also participate in continuous quality improvement projects and the clinical supervision of new nursing staff.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (HES) or an equivalent recognized qualification by the Swiss Red Cross.
You have obtained or wish to pursue training leading to a CAS in wound care and healing. Your skills and desire to learn allow you to continuously improve your practice.
You have confident professional experience, preferably in a medical and/or dermatology service or in an activity requiring regular wound care. Knowledge of the specialty is a plus or in an activity requiring regular wound care.
Your clinical analysis skills, sense of priorities, and professional attitude enable effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Comfortable in demanding and evolving contexts, you adopt a proactive approach in care coordination and patient pathway optimization.
Additional training in wound care, quality, or clinical leadership, as well as an interest in supervising new staff, are appreciated assets.
You possess a keen sense of organization and priority management, excellent interpersonal skills, and confidence in interactions with medical staff. Finally, discretion and diplomacy are integral to your daily practice.
Good knowledge of DPI and clinical examination is expected.
Additional Information
You work day, night, and weekend shifts as needed by the service (8-hour shifts covering morning, evening, and night).
