The opportunity:
The Data Center Application Engineer serves as the link between data center infrastructure and Hitachi Energy’s specialized expertise in transformers. This role engages customers early in the sales cycle—prospecting and opportunity development—by providing technical and strategic insights that build mutual trust. Acting as the voice of the customer within the organization, the engineer communicates technical preferences, delivers training, and ensures proposed solutions align with market needs. Additionally, the position supports the implementation of the Product Group Transformers (PGTR) strategy, driving profitable growth and reinforcing Hitachi Energy’s position as a trusted partner in the Data Center segment.
How you'll make an impact:

Lead the regional Application Engineering activities & support the Business Development activities related to DtC by understanding Market Trends and secure the anticipated growth impact.

To fulfill the customer facing dimensions, activities shall include organizing and conducting Customer Transformer Trainings (CTT’s), attending industry conferences, customer visits, specification influencing recommendations & reviews, off cycle technical and knowledge support to customer contacts.

To fulfill the internal Hitachi Energy facing dimensions, activities shall include internal technical trainings, tender strategy & negotiation recommendations. Engage factory and tender engineering teams to develop and deploy trust, acceptance and team integration.

You will contribute to, and follow the HUB market plan and collaborate closely with the HUB M&S, account managers and Business developers.

Ability to develop one’s own technical presentations, additionally use colleagues and PGTR technical presentations supported by underlying deep understanding of the topics.

Influence senior managers and negotiate technical matters with customers on issues that may have financial and future business implications.

Support from a technical knowledge point of view the Sales Team for the Marketing and Sales activities of the HUB and represents the interests of the GPG/BL in the given Country/Region.

You will provide customer feedback as well as strategic marketing inputs to the Global Product Group (GPG) and support the market analysis validation and competitive landscape.

Support and engage closely within Application Engineering teams.
Your Background:

Bachelor/Master degree in Electrical or electromechanical or equivalent Engineering) A master’s degree or Accreditation or participation in industry technical bodies (CIGRE, IEC etc.) is a plus.

Minimum 10 years of experience with 5 years of experience in technical roles like transformer design, technical interaction, directly with customers in a tender or order execution capacity. Exposure to the sales and order execution process is a plus.

The person in this role should have technical skills in transformers and be able to connect the technical teams to the marketing teams in the Demand countries within the HUB.

Intercultural sensitiveness is required, with colleagues and customers from multi-countries in assigned region with good communication skills in oral and written. Proficiency in English a must, other European languages is a plus
