Technical Service Employee 80%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders, the prevention of recidivism, as well as the detention and preparation of the departure of persons without a valid residence permit are of particular importance.
The Bachtel Correctional Center (VZB) is one of the enforcement facilities of the Canton of Zurich (VEZ) – one of seven main departments of JuWe – and is an institution specialized in open enforcement of custodial and substitute custodial sentences. The VZB offers space for over 90 incarcerated persons.
We are looking for a motivated and committed individual to support the technical service.
Your tasks
- You repair damages to the infrastructure and ensure its continuous maintenance
- You lead and employ 1 to 2 inmates in tasks related to technical service and site maintenance
- You share responsibility for the preservation of value of buildings and facilities as well as for the care of the surroundings of the buildings and the site
- You operate technical and electronic systems and are co-responsible for their maintenance
- You support the setup and execution of internal and external events
- You manage key control in cooperation with your technical service supervisor
- You undertake material and personnel transports
- In cooperation with the Safety Officers' Central Office (SiBe), you are responsible for fire protection emergency plans and co-responsible for creating and training evacuation, fire protection, and escape plans
Your profile
- You have completed training as a facility maintenance specialist and preferably have further training as a janitor with a federal certificate of competence
- You hold a category C1 driving license
- Pedagogical knowledge is an advantage
- You have very good command of the German language, both spoken and written, and good oral skills in at least one foreign language
- Solid IT user skills and technical understanding of internal operational systems are advantageous
- You are motivated to face new challenges and to support people in special life situations
- You are both mentally and physically resilient and possess high social competence
- A clean criminal record without entries in the criminal and debt enforcement registers is required
