A Postdoctoral researcher (Post-Doc) position is available in the group of Prof. Endimiani at the Institute for Infectious Diseases (IFIK; University of Bern - www.ifik.unibe.ch')). Prof. Endimiani is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF; https://data.snf.ch/grants?q=Endimiani')).
The Post-Doc will investigate multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria together with the implementation of standard and new in vivo models. Part-time home-working might be considered. Moreover, the assured 75% salary could be increased based on additional grants acquired.
The Post-Doc must be enthusiastic for research in the field of antibiotic resistant bacteria, next-generation sequencing technologies, and in vivo models. The candidate should have a background in microbiology (specifically in bacteriology) and molecular biology.
In particular, the candidate must possess strong experience with short- and long-reading whole-genome sequencing, along with genome/plasmid assembly, annotation procedures, bioinformatics and metagenomics. Applicants without experience in these aspects will not be considered. Fluency in spoken and written English is required.
