The EOC, the multisite hospital of Ticino, is present with its institutes throughout the entire cantonal territory with a total of 1,000 beds. Thanks to the commitment and competence of over 6,500 collaborators and their attention to human relations, the EOC ensures quality healthcare by caring for over 41,000 inpatients annually and providing over 600,000 outpatient consultations.
The Institute of Integrated Diagnostics of Italian Switzerland (IDISI) brings together the Clinics of Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology, and Laboratory Medicine and, with its approximately 600 collaborators and nearly 4 million exams and analyses performed each year, offers a complete and high-quality diagnostic service, meeting the needs of patients residing throughout the cantonal territory. Overcoming traditional specialist barriers, IDISI adopts a multidisciplinary approach to promote more efficient and personalized diagnostic-therapeutic pathways, capable of specifically addressing the particular needs of each patient. Furthermore, the Institute is oriented towards university teaching and the promotion of biomedical research.
The Laboratory Medicine Clinic offers comprehensive analysis services on biological samples whose results can support diagnosis and disease monitoring. Most of the over 3 million exams performed each year are on human, environmental, and veterinary biological samples.

Profile:
The head of laboratory technicians actively contributes to the development of the Institute's strategies and identifies with and transmits the vision and values of the Cantonal Hospital Authority (EOC).
They are able to promote the quality of technical-analytical services and the culture of safety, ensuring a high-level service to support diagnosis and care. They have a strong interest in the development of biomedical technical professions and pay particular attention to continuous training and professional growth of collaborators.
They support and implement local and cross-cutting technical-scientific projects and actively collaborate with various clinical services, professional schools, and national and international partners.
The head of laboratory technicians fosters a climate of collaboration and cooperation within the TAB service and with other sectors of the Institute and the EOC, while ensuring rational and economical management of entrusted resources. They will also be responsible, supporting the laboratory heads, for the 180 biomedical analysis technicians active at the various sites of the Cantonal Hospital Authority.
The future head has gained significant experience in biomedical laboratory and in managing and leading a team, using leadership as a tool to empower and make their collaborators autonomous. They possess broad relational skills, communication and negotiation abilities. Organizational skills, result orientation, predisposition to interdisciplinary collaboration, continuous improvement, and innovation complete their profile.
Necessary requirements:
- Diploma as a biomedical analysis technician or equivalent recognized qualification;
- Diploma or training in healthcare management;
- Master/MAS in management or willingness to obtain it;
- Several years of experience in a biomedical analysis laboratory;
- Proven experience in leading and developing teams;
- Organizational skills and management of operational processes;
- Managerial knowledge in healthcare and ability to select/evaluate personnel;
- Excellent relational, communication skills and aptitude for interdisciplinary work;
- Basic IT knowledge and specific laboratory applications;
- Knowledge of national languages and English (desired);
- Identification with the organization's values, listening skills, and attention to others.
Workplace: Main site Locarno, but availability to move to different sites in the canton.
Working hours: mainly daytime hours, Monday to Friday, with the possibility of overtime according to service needs.
