The research unit Forest and Soil Ecology and the Long-term Environmental Research program investigate how properties and functions of forest ecosystems and forest soils are influenced by external factors such as pollutant inputs, climate change, and forest management. We are looking for a
Within the framework of the Long-term Forest Ecosystem Research (LWF) program, you are responsible for planning and conducting the annual Sanasilva inventories to determine the crown condition of trees in Swiss forests. You also coordinate fieldwork with cantonal authorities, evaluate the recordings of the field teams, and train new field staff. You maintain contact with partners from ICP Forests in other European countries and participate in joint training and courses. You collaborate with scientists from the Long-term Forest Ecosystem Research program to update survey instructions.
You have completed vocational training or have proven expertise in a technical field, such as polymechanic, carpenter, automation technician, forester, or have a degree in forestry or environmental sciences or similar. You hold a category B driving license, enjoy working in the forest, and are willing to work long days. For coordination with authorities, you bring good negotiation skills. You are interested in scientific work in an international environment and have a lot of initiative. Good German, French, and English skills complete your profile.
