Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Main Department of Pre-Trial Detention Centers Zurich (UGZ) - one of seven main departments of JuWe - currently operates seven prisons for provisional detention, pre-trial detention, and security detention. One of these prisons is Pfäffikon Prison. It houses detainees in pre-trial and security detention as well as in the security unit. Pfäffikon Prison has been renovated and will resume operations in summer 2026.
The UGZ Social Services is attached to the Directorate and supports all pre-trial detention centers in the Canton of Zurich as one of three specialist departments. We are looking for a team leader for the Social Services department starting immediately or by arrangement. In addition to the professional, personnel, and organizational leadership of about 6 people, you will also work at Pfäffikon Prison.
Your tasks
- Professional, organizational, and personnel management of one of two teams in Social Services within a decentralized structure
- Participation in continuous quality assurance and promotion of professional social work in the context of pre-trial detention
- Collaboration on projects and process optimizations as well as support for the further development of the specialist department
- Close cooperation with overall management and the other team leader
- Resource-oriented counseling and support of incarcerated persons in various areas of life
- Planning and coordination of recreational activities, reintegration, and transition management
- Maintenance of interdisciplinary cooperation with internal and external agencies
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a comparable degree
- Professional experience in correctional services, working with mandated clients, or similar fields
- Experience in personnel development, team leadership, and/or project management
- Organizational talent and ability to set priorities and manage processes efficiently
- Independent, reliable, responsible, and careful working style
- Resilience, decisiveness, and solution-oriented action even in complex situations
- Flexibility and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
- Fluent German in spoken and written form, knowledge of additional languages is an advantage, as well as good IT user skills
