About the job
Your new role
You actively engage in reading promotion by organizing storytelling sessions, supporting storytellers, and maintaining contact with them. With the formats you design for reading animation and literature mediation, you make an important contribution to our core mission. Together with the main person responsible, you manage the media department "Intercultural Library." In addition, you take responsibility for one to two other media departments. Additionally, you regularly work in public service and take on a Saturday shift once a month.
This position is suitable for you if you
- have training and professional experience in library science.
- enjoy working with children and young people.
- are enthusiastic about reading promotion and ideally already have experience in related offerings.
- are proactive and like to contribute to the development of a modern and contemporary library.
- are a team player and have good communication skills.

The operation
The St. Gallen City Library Katharinen in the heart of St. Gallen is a contact point for children and young people as well as for caregivers such as parents and teachers. Our diverse media offerings include books, DVDs, audio plays, Tonies, comics, mangas, magazines, and other exciting media. A central concern for us is the promotion of language and reading skills, especially fostering the joy of reading. With a varied program of events for small and large library customers, we create meeting spaces and enable everyone easy and open access to media and information.
The St. Gallen City Library is a department of the "Children Youth Family" service. The service belongs to the Directorate of Education and Leisure.
