Job Description
What to expect
- As a consulting architect for strategic hospital construction planning, you are active in all structural and infrastructural fields of action in healthcare – both in the strategic and operational phases.
- You advise and plan the creation of health infrastructures (master planning, feasibility studies, etc.) and support the operational implementation of projects that include both medical and non-medical uses in healthcare facilities.
- The strategic consulting service takes place at the interface between the service strategy of the healthcare operator and the infrastructure to be created for it.
- The operational support takes place in service phases 3-5 of the SIA regulations.

Strategic Hospital Know-how
- Strategic planning processes involving all stakeholders of a healthcare operator, including feedback loop management (planning the planning).
- Strategic construction cost estimation for new construction, renovation, and maintenance considering the volatile key figure environment of a healthcare facility in Switzerland.
- Project organization in the strategic planning phase.
- Leadership of strategic "Design to Cost" processes.
- In-depth understanding of operational processes, functional diagrams, and affinity matrices in healthcare facilities, especially in acute somatic hospitals in Switzerland.
- Translation of operational concepts into strategic architectural layout planning of medical and non-medical care units regarding internal hospital (personnel) synergies.
- Structural and operational normative Swiss conditions for healthcare buildings.
- Swiss tendering procedures according to BÖB/IVöB etc.
Operational Hospital Know-how
- Design, construction, and material conditions for health infrastructures for all medical and non-medical workflows.
- Conceptual building technology planning for medical and non-medical uses.
Hospital-specific Management Skills
- Confident demeanor and pronounced presentation skills, e.g., towards authorities and political representatives as well as board of directors, hospital board, management, etc.
- Strong communication skills (German), especially in expert-layman communication.
- Experienced meeting and negotiation leadership.
- Mediation and conflict resolution skills, target group-oriented conflict management (also within healthcare facilities).
- Strong ability to change perspectives (healthcare operators).
- Phase-appropriate preparation of decision-making bases (application procedures to decision-makers).
- Timely identification of project risks and goal conflicts.
Education and Experience
- University of applied sciences or university degree as an architect.
- Preferably further training in strategic hospital construction planning, project management, client competence, construction cost planning, management skills, communication, etc.
- At least 10 years of professional experience in healthcare as an architect, preferably in acute somatic hospitals in Switzerland.
- Ideally experience in strategic consulting and planning of health infrastructures (master planning, feasibility studies, etc.).
