The University Library Basel (UB Basel) with its five locations is one of the most important public information centers in the region. With a collection of 6 million printed and 3.5 million electronic media, half a million visitors annually, and its significant historical collection dating back to the 8th century, it is one of the major scientific libraries in Switzerland. At the same time, it is the cantonal library of Basel-Stadt and accessible to the public. In its role as a mediator between science and society, it offers various stakeholders a versatile learning and meeting space.

Your tasks

• Information supply in the subject areas of Philosophy, Education (including higher education), and Media Studies (including theater and dance)
• Design, structuring, and implementation of services in teaching and research for all customer groups of UB Basel
• Conducting individual consultations and courses for students, lecturers, and researchers, especially in the subject areas of Philosophy and Media Studies
• Collaboration and close exchange with the aforementioned subject areas
• Participation in a subject specialist working group
• Conducting courses within the information, documentation, and media competence teams of the University Library beyond the above-mentioned subject areas

Your profile

• University degree at master’s level in Philosophy and/or Media Studies as well as research experience
• MAS in Library and Information Science or willingness to acquire corresponding knowledge
• Proven interest in information technologies and digital media
• An initiative, flexible, and team-oriented personality with a highly independent working style, didactic skills, and a high degree of personal responsibility
• Strong communication skills, interest in knowledge transfer and project work, as well as the ability to network beyond faculty boundaries
• Good knowledge of the university research environment and in the field of higher education didactics
• Very good knowledge of German and English
