The GTOP project (Geneva Translational Oncology Programme) is part of the Translational Research Center in Onco-hematology (CRTOH) at the University of Geneva. It brings together a scientific community of nearly 300 top-level researchers and clinicians. GTOP aims to promote research in precision oncology based on tissue analysis, allowing the determination, in a personalized manner, of the best therapeutic strategy to propose to each patient.
The project includes a team with diverse skills, ranging from the handling of research samples to the development and application of advanced analytical methods. In this context, we are looking for a full-time research assistant to join the team.
Job Description
Within the GTOP project team, and under the supervision of the project manager, you are responsible for analyzing data from spatial omics technologies and supporting researchers in their interpretation.
You select and implement the most appropriate analysis methods for scientific issues, design and optimize data processing pipelines integrating the necessary quality controls, and ensure the storage, standardization, and dissemination of data in accordance with FAIR principles.
You produce clear and interpretable bioinformatics reports, contribute to the visualization of results as well as to the writing of scientific publications.
You also ensure scientific and technological monitoring to stay at the forefront of advances in bioinformatics and actively participate in exchanges and collaborations within the bioinformatics network of the Faculty of Medicine at UNIGE.
Qualifications
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific/biology field or an equivalent diploma and are fluent in English (C1).
You have at least two years of experience in bioinformatics data analysis within a research group or a university technology platform.
You possess a solid understanding of spatial omics techniques, microscopy image analyses, and spatiomics data analysis algorithms, with demonstrated experience in analyzing data from multiplexed immunofluorescence technologies, an essential skill for this position.
You master biostatistics, scientific data visualization, as well as programming languages Python, R, and Bash. You are also comfortable with Git, containerization tools, and pipeline orchestration frameworks.
You demonstrate an analytical mindset and know how to work effectively in a team within an innovative research environment. Rigorous and precise, you are a motivated person, flexible during periods of high activity, and capable of quickly gaining autonomy in planning and executing analyses.
