Is this helpful?
The Public Prosecutor's Office III of the Canton of Zurich handles qualified economic crimes (Departments A, B, C, and D) as well as money laundering cases (Department E) and is also responsible for international legal assistance (Department R).
We are looking for three motivated individuals for our dedicated team at the Police and Justice Center Zurich starting February 1, 2026, or by arrangement, as legal assistant public prosecutors (limited until 12/31/2028).
What to expect from us
Procedures are becoming more complex and demanding, which often affects the duration of proceedings, the likelihood of success, and also the rights of those involved. These increasing challenges call for new approaches.
The public prosecutor's offices of the Canton of Zurich have created a new job profile in the legal mid-level staff aimed at individuals who do not seek training as public prosecutors but want to directly participate in demanding cases in a support role.
In this exciting new role, you can support our public prosecutors in close teamwork from day one in managing their cases and directly work on complex cases of serial investment fraud, qualified employee crime, and offenses in asset management.
Your tasks include, among others:
- Preparation of edition orders, account freezes, as well as applications and orders for coercive measures
- Preparation of legal assistance requests, indictment facts, other resolutions, and pleadings
- Gathering evidence (in cooperation with the police) for interrogations or preparation of interrogations
- Writing legal memos (e.g., for appeal proceedings)
Depending on your level of experience, you will also independently handle cases under the responsibility of a public prosecutor.
This is a new job profile; therefore, candidacy with a view to obtaining the eligibility certificate for public prosecutors is not intended. The positions are limited within the framework of a pilot project until the end of 2028.
How to convince us
Requirements for this position are a completed law degree and relevant professional experience with good qualifications, preferably at prosecution or judicial authorities or in legal practice. A lawyer's license or similar professional additional qualifications are advantageous.
Flawless knowledge of criminal and criminal procedure law, confident German language skills in speaking and writing, as well as good command of English are fundamental skills in our field. You also have high self-motivation and work efficiently and purposefully, but with the necessary care. Furthermore, we expect integrity, discretion, resilience, confident demeanor, and pronounced teamwork skills.
What we offer you
Working in our team is an investment in your future and a unique experience: you are involved from the very first moment, benefiting from the experience and expertise of our public prosecutors. Your workplace is located in the Police and Justice Center in Zurich. The employment conditions correspond to the cantonal guidelines. Classification is in salary class 18.
For further information, lic. iur. Oliver Labhart, Chief Public Prosecutor, is happy to assist you (oliver.labhart@ji.zh.ch).
We look forward to receiving your application by January 11, 2026, at the latest via our job portal.
