Polymechanic / Sink Erosion Specialist (m/f/d)
In a world of precision, our experts shape the future. As a sink erosion specialist at Sonova, you are responsible for the economical, quality-compliant, and on-time production of complex mold inserts and components using sink erosion (EDM). You optimize erosion processes and electrode strategies and ensure the highest precision regarding dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and process stability. As part of our state-of-the-art toolmaking team, you contribute to continuously improving manufacturing processes and implementing innovative solutions.
More about the role
- Independent programming, setup, and operation of sink erosion machines
- Selection and optimization of erosion strategies as well as electrode design (graphite, copper, hybrid)
- Definition of optimal erosion parameters for dimensional accuracy, surface quality, and process stability
- Conducting quality inspections and corrections in case of deviations
- Documentation of programs, parameters, and processes
- Participation in the standardization of EDM processes and optimization of throughput times
- Responsibility for on-time and economical production of internal customer orders
- Ensuring order and cleanliness at the workplace according to 5S
More about you
- Completed training as a polymechanic EFZ, toolmaker, mold maker, or comparable
- Several years of experience in sink erosion, ideally with complex 3D mold inserts
- Solid knowledge of graphite & copper electrodes, automation systems (e.g., Erowa, System 3R), and toolmaking processes
- Ability to read technical drawings and apply measurement/testing technology
- Very high quality awareness, structured working, patience, and precision
- Teamwork skills and constructive collaboration with design, CNC milling, and assembly
- Optional: further training or specialization in EDM technology, training with machine manufacturers
- Willingness to act as a practical trainer, share knowledge, and train colleagues
