The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics are opening applications for an 80% A2 assistant position.
The successful candidate will be involved in the Master in Socioeconomics and will be responsible for the following tasks:
- assisting Prof. Jean-Michel Bonvin with the supplementary study of the course 'Socioeconomics of Social Policies 2' (Master's);
- assisting Prof. Solène Morvant-Roux with the supplementary study of the course 'Socioeconomics of Development' (Master's);
- supervising and co-leading with another assistant the 'Socioeconomics Workshop' (Master's);
- monitoring and grading exams as well as following up with students associated with the above courses and seminars;
- supporting the grading of exams for the course 'Thinking Society' (Bachelor's);
- participating in the jury for theses and research projects;
- developing own research with a view to writing a doctoral thesis on a topic related to social policies and/or solidarity alternatives.

- mastery and experience of qualitative research methods;
- proficiency in scientific writing in French with good skills in English;
- ease in relations with students and ability to work in a team;
- knowledge of Global South contexts would be a plus.
The candidate will be hired on a two-year contract from the Department of Public Instruction (DIP) which may be renewed for two successive periods, respectively two years and one year. The maximum duration of the assistant position is therefore five years.
The thesis topic must be officially submitted to the Faculty before the end of the first year.

The Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics (IDESO) is an interdisciplinary expertise center specialized in the study of inequalities between individuals in Switzerland and in some low or middle-income countries of the Global South.The Institute is committed to offering a stimulating work environment and quality supervision to its assistants and doctoral students.
The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Institute of Demography and Socioeconomics are opening applications for an 80% A2 assistant position.

Title and required skills

- proficiency in scientific writing in French with good skills in English;
