The Zurich University of Teacher Education actively shapes education, school, and teaching of today and tomorrow in teaching and research. The Center for School Development examines school change processes triggered both by internal school initiatives and external requirements. In addition to describing such processes, a central task is to support school practice through systematically collected data and derived results.
Within the framework of the project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation «Co-creating Meaningful Edtech: An Investigation of Edtech Testbeds», which is carried out in cooperation with the Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg, a postdoctoral position is to be filled at PH Zurich. The employment is according to the salary guidelines of the SNSF for postdoctoral researchers and serves individual qualification on the path to a professorship.
- Design and implementation of a postdoc project within the framework of the above-mentioned research project
- Participation in general project coordination as well as intensive support of junior researchers
- Application of methods used in the project (document and network analysis, platform analysis, hybrid ethnography, interviews)
- Contribution to research data management and school authority approval procedures
- Support in the international recruitment of research participants
- Analysis of selected actor and governance constellations in the global edtech testbed field as well as ethnographic research of selected testbed practices and comparative integration of the analyses
- National and international scientific presentations and publications
- Participation in project meetings and workshops, both in the Zurich context and together with the German cooperation partner
- Completed doctorate in the field of «Edtech Intermediaries» as well as solid knowledge in the areas of «Critical Edtech Studies» and «Science and Technology Studies (STS)»
- High expertise in empirical-qualitative research methods (especially hybrid ethnography)
- Solid knowledge of various education systems worldwide, both in the global North and the global South
- Professional experience in several countries (within and outside Europe)
- Extensive international research network
- Extensive publication list in international, peer-reviewed journals
- Ambitious and dynamic personality as well as excellent communication skills in English (C1 level or higher)
- Knowledge of the German language or its timely acquisition is required
