About the job
Scientific Assistant in Psychology 50 – 60% (fixed-term)
Would you like to actively contribute to the traffic safety of school children through a versatile activity in an exciting interdisciplinary research project? Then you are exactly right with us!
Department: Applied Psychology
Start of work: Immediately or by arrangement. The position is limited and planned for the project duration of 2 years.
For a research project in the field of traffic safety of primary school children, we are looking for a committed person to support us with the following tasks:
- Conducting playful tests with children in primary schools
- Conducting online surveys with parents, teachers, and traffic experts
- Traffic psychological surveys in the field
- Recruitment and communication with teachers and parents
- Coordination of data collection with student assistants
- Assistance in the creation of test materials and questionnaires
- Assistance in evaluation, management, and archiving of data
About the project: In this research project, we pursue a new participatory approach to identify underestimated danger spots on the way to school and in the school environment, taking into account the subjective perception of danger by children. In this empirical study, danger assessments by children are therefore compared with those of adults, traffic experts, and objective accident data. The findings of this project provide important scientifically based foundations for holistic accident prevention. The project is funded by the Road Safety Fund for a period of two years.
You have a bachelor's and a master's degree in psychology or are about to complete your master's degree. You have good English skills, and since surveys with primary school children are one of the main tasks, good knowledge of Swiss German is also required.
You have an empathetic manner, experience in dealing with children, and are communicative in dealing with parents and teachers.
You work carefully and handle research data conscientiously (data protection). Ideally, you bring prior experience in quantitative research, questionnaire design, or online surveys (e.g., Unipark).
