Nurse in Pre-Surgical Consultation and Pre-Surgical Reception Unit
The Management of the Surgery Department of the CHUV is looking for a nurse in pre-surgical consultation and pre-surgical reception unit at an 80% activity rate, to strengthen its teams. The starting date is scheduled for May 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Surgery Department (DC) groups activities related to surgical care in various specialties, providing high-quality, coordinated, and patient-centered care in a highly specialized and interdisciplinary environment.
Mission
Pre-surgical consultation:
- You assess the general health status of patients
- You collect nursing data in preparation for a surgical intervention
- You detect preoperative risk factors
- You perform or plan any additional examinations/care
- You gather the necessary information and examinations to compile the preoperative file
- You provide information about the stay at CHUV
- You work closely with anesthesiologists
- You plan special arrangements for the return home if necessary
- You answer questions regarding the surgical intervention, anesthesia, and pain management.
Patient reception unit on the day of their surgical intervention (pre-surgical reception unit):
- You prepare the patient in the preoperative phase of various surgical disciplines
- You organize their departure to the operating room (BOP)
- You keep the patient file up to date and document it.
Profile
- You hold a HES nursing diploma (or an equivalent title, as well as recognition from the Red Cross for staff with foreign diplomas, mandatory)
- You have authorization to practice in the Canton of Vaud or have submitted an application to the Vaud Public Health Service
- You have at least 5 years of professional experience in an acute care unit
- You have expertise and skills in the mentioned specialties
- You possess excellent clinical judgment, anticipation and reactivity skills, and are rigorous and precise
- You have a sense of responsibility, can take initiative, have good adaptability and technical skills
- You demonstrate flexibility to work in a multidisciplinary team in a constantly evolving environment.
