1 PhD position (SNSF) - SHINE Project
Project
The Specificity Hypothesis IN Education (SHINE): understanding the development of motivational differentiation between school subjects over time. The PhD candidate will carry out a thesis within SHINE and lead a longitudinal study conducted in primary schools of the canton (field duration: approx. 2 years), in coordination with the project's postdoctoral researcher.Main tasks
- Contribute to the operationalization of the longitudinal protocol (tools, procedures, schedule).
- Coordinate data collection in schools (planning, travel, field relations).
- Supervise a small team of student assistants (training, quality supervision).
- Ensure participant recruitment and consent management.
- Conduct data collection, data management (documentation, anonymization), then statistical analyses.
- Write scientific articles and communicate results (conferences, reports).
- Participate in the scientific life of the group.
Required degree and skills
Master’s degree in psychology, educational sciences, sports sciences, or equivalent qualification.Strong knowledge of contemporary motivation theories.

The SHINE project examines how and why students’ motivation differentiates between subjects (e.g., mathematics vs. French vs. physical education) during primary school.
