The Department of Strategy
The Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society (SGS) of the Faculty for Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne provides a stimulating, interdisciplinary research environment. We value the diversity of the expertise of the members of the department as well as the diversity of the departments at the Faculty of Business and Economics. Members of the Department have published in leading international outlets such as the Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Annals, Journal of Management Studies, etc.
To complete the team, the Department of Strategy, Globalization and Society (SGS) at Faculty
of Business and Economics (HEC Lausanne) is looking for a PhD position in Organization Theory.

February 1st, 2026
Contract duration:
The initial contract is 1 year. The contract can be renewed for 2 x 2 years. The maximum funding period is 5 years.
Location:
University of Lausanne, Faculty for Business and Economics, Internef Building. The research activities will be carried out in Lausanne, Switzerland, where the candidate should take residence.
Type of position:
This is a full-time position
Salary:
67'568 CHF (first year) – 78'794 CHF (fifth year) as per current salary scale for the position of "Assistant Diplômé"
Supervisor:
The supervisor will be Professor Guido Palazzo.
Required Profile for the PhD position:
In order to complete our team, we are looking for someone with the following skills :
- A master’s degree, preferably in Management or Economics
- Fluency in English
- A passion for research
- Ability to work independently
- An interest in the topics on which Professor Palazzo does research (sustainability, ethical decision making, storytelling) and in qualitative research methods
Your responsibilities
- A minimum of 50% of the position’s time will be dedicated to the completion of doctoral studies
- A maximum of 50% of the position’s time will be dedicated to providing teaching and research support for the contract responsible
