The Psychiatric University Hospital Zurich ensures psychiatric and psychotherapeutic care for the residents of the city and the greater Zurich area. The range of services includes the treatment of mental illnesses throughout the entire lifespan.
The training to become a health specialist is a 3-year apprenticeship at secondary level II, which is completed with a federal certificate of competence (EFZ).
We offer starting August 3, 2026
Your tasks
- You will learn a variety of administrative, logistical, and medical-technical activities as well as delegated care and nursing tasks
- You will develop advanced skills in communication and conversation, relationship care, supporting people in crisis, co-shaping the environment and everyday situations, as well as activation groups
Your profile
- Explicitly motivated to complete the training in a psychiatric clinic
- Physically and mentally resilient
- Possess maturity and stability
- You are sociable and communicative
- Enjoy working in a team
- You have a Sek A or B diploma with good grades
- You have good German skills (level C1) and can easily understand Swiss German dialect

- Practical training on three different psychiatric wards (adult psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, therapy wards, child psychiatry, and forensics)
- Practical training at various locations (Zurich, Rheinau, Männedorf, Winterthur)
- Individual learning support in practice by professionally trained instructors

- Attendance at the Careum Zurich vocational school - with additional options for vocational baccalaureate school or bilingual instruction
