Head of Department Traffic and Road (80 - 100 %)

The Planning and Projects division of the Civil Engineering Office includes the departments of Traffic and Road, Urban Drainage and Water Bodies, Road Inspection, as well as Urban Greenery. The employees manage projects, process construction applications, and develop concepts for the development of Thun's infrastructures.

We are looking for a

• You lead the strategic and operational Traffic and Road department with six employees and actively shape the traffic engineering development.
• You take responsibility for civil engineering projects for SIA 103 phases 1 to 4 and ensure their goal-oriented, economical, and timely implementation.
• You develop concepts/strategies in the area of traffic and infrastructure, coordinate long-term investment planning as well as the budget management of your department.
• You accompany complex civil engineering projects in public spaces in close cooperation with planning offices, contractors, administrative offices, and private stakeholders.
• You represent the Civil Engineering Office in interdisciplinary working groups, contribute your expertise to planning processes, and ensure efficient coordination with other offices.
• You provide information on ongoing and planned projects, comment on political initiatives, and appear confidently and convincingly before authorities.
• You maintain targeted communication: You inform internal and external stakeholders as needed and timely at important milestones.

• Completed studies as a civil engineer (ETH/FH) or comparable qualification.
• Several years of experience in project management and infrastructure, ideally in the public sector.
• Knowledge of SIA processes and standards and familiarity with the guidelines of VSS, VSA, and other professional associations.
• Professional appearance, you are resilient, reliable, and possess strong communication and organizational skills.
