The ISME (Institut suisse de médecine équine) of the Vetsuisse Faculty of the University of Bern operates a referral clinic at the Bern location for horses and other equids as well as a veterinary clinic with veterinary service, reproduction center, and a fitness and rehabilitation station at the Avenches location. The team consists of around 60 employees, of which about 15 work at the Avenches location. We are looking for an employee for the reproduction center with a focus on stallions at the Avenches location immediately or by arrangement.
If suitable, there is also the option of an additional 50% position in the secretariat.
Tasks to be done
• Semen collection from stallions including processing of the semen for shipping
• Analysis of semen quality
• Production of frozen semen under EU conditions
• Semen shipping domestically and internationally
• Management of frozen semen storage
• Support of veterinarians at the insemination station
• Collaboration with internal departments (veterinarians, secretariat, stable staff)
• Administrative tasks such as management of the semen depot, checking mating lists, invoicing of mating fees, etc.
Your profile
• Laboratory technician EFZ, TPA EFZ or similar training
• Experience with horses – especially with stallions
• Good oral French and German skills
• English skills desired
• Independent, precise, and clean working style (laboratory work with high hygiene standards)
• Enjoyment of teamwork and customer interaction
• Knowledge in invoicing in the administration area & willingness to learn our internal software suite
