The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a liter is always a liter (e.g., when refueling), METAS performs calibrations, conformity assessments, and consulting for business, research, and administration. Measurement accuracy builds trust, especially at the societal and political level, and is indispensable in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transfer, measurements in environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

As Head of the Integrated Management System, you take on a central leadership role and ensure that our management system meets strategic, regulatory, and operational requirements. You shape the further development and effectiveness of our integrated management systems and support the organization in acting sustainably, compliantly, and process-oriented. In this role, you are part of the extended executive management.

Your new challenge

• Holistic further development of the Integrated Management System (IMS): ensuring the coherence and effectiveness of all IMS elements throughout the entire lifecycle
• Professional, project, and personnel leadership in the sense of a modern, cooperative leadership culture
• Monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, standards, and internal guidelines as well as advising executive management
• You are responsible for the quality management system including audit planning, process optimization, and continuous improvement
• Ensuring organizational resilience through emergency and crisis management concepts

Your profile

• You have a higher professional qualification in quality management, business administration, natural sciences, or comparable fields as well as several years of leadership experience within a regulated environment (authorities, accreditation, industry, laboratory environment)
• You bring deep expertise in at least three of the following areas: compliance management, quality management, risk management, business continuity management, process management, document management
• Strong leadership and communication skills, complemented by the ability to convey complex topics clearly and manage change
• Strategic thinking combined with strong implementation skills and a structured, analytical working style as well as high social competence, assertiveness, and enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration
• Very good oral and written knowledge of two official languages (German/French) and English; knowledge of the third official language is an advantage
