The Department of Safety, Health and Environment (SGU) advises, supports and trains all organizational units and members of ETH Zurich on questions of occupational safety and health protection as well as operational environmental protection. For emergencies, we maintain an appropriate emergency organization. In everyday life as well as in emergencies, we work closely with authorities and external emergency services.

Job description
SGU ensures the systematic involvement of ASA specialists according to EKAS guideline 6508 for ETH. To fulfill this task professionally and efficiently, we are looking for an ASA Specialist (m/f/d) to start immediately or by arrangement.
- You are the central contact person for all questions regarding occupational safety and health protection at ETH Zurich
- You advise our organizational units with expertise, empathy, and foresight – and not just from the desk
- Whether laboratory, construction site or fieldwork: you are in the middle of it when it comes to combining safety with innovation
- You work closely with an interdisciplinary team and specifically contribute your expertise in chemical safety and radiation protection
- In doing so, you develop safety concepts, conduct inspections, train employees, and find pragmatic solutions – always with the goal of protecting people, the environment, and infrastructure as best as possible
- Your work is characterized by personal responsibility, dialogue, and the aspiration to improve together
- Your workplace is in Zurich, but you are occasionally active at other ETH locations
Profile
- ASA Specialist with a Swiss federal certificate and several years of professional experience
- Scientific education with very good chemistry knowledge
- Radiation protection expert (open approach) and laser safety officer – or willingness to complete these trainings
- Additionally, you have an interest in safety issues outside the campus (e.g., fieldwork or business trips)
- Enjoy continuous training and professional development
- Very good German skills, good English skills (at least B2), and strong communication skills
