The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking an experienced Head of Professional Education responsible for defining, leading, and continuously evolving a comprehensive strategy for career development and technical professional education in Switzerland. This role builds upon the company’s strong foundation in Swiss vocational training (Berufsbildung) and ensures that our talents receive industry-leading education that equips them with the technical skills and product knowledge needed to succeed in our rapidly developing energy sector. Through close collaboration with internal and external partners, the Head of Professional Education Switzerland ensures that all educational offerings are relevant, effective, and aligned with both current industry standards and the evolving demands of the energy sector.
How you will make an impact
- Vocational Training Leadership: Lead and continuously improve Swiss vocational training programmes, ensuring compliance with national requirements and internal quality standards. Support internal trainers, oversee apprentice rotations and examinations, and ensure an excellent apprentice experience.
- Talent Attraction & Employer Branding: Partner with Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding to position Hitachi Energy as an employer of choice for young talent. Build strong relationships with vocational schools, universities, and student organisations. Represent the company at campus events, apprenticeship fairs, and digital outreach activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners, line managers, and Swiss leadership to understand workforce needs and shape the early-career talent pipeline. Serve as a trusted advisor on early-career topics and contribute to global alignment on governance and talent principles.
- Data, Analytics & Continuous Improvement: Develop and maintain KPIs and dashboards measuring programme effectiveness, retention, diversity, and performance. Analyse data and feedback to drive continuous improvement and ensure competitive and high-quality programmes. Monitor regulatory changes and labour market trends in Switzerland.
- Professional Education & E‑Learning: Contribute to the design and delivery of technical professional education, including e‑learning modules, virtual and in-person training formats, and certification programmes. Collaborate with instructional designers, education specialists, and external vendors to enhance learning offerings, including LMS management and learning technologies.
Your Background
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Education, Business Administration, or a related technical field. A Master's degree is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in professional education, corporate training, or talent acquisition & development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of designing, developing, and implementing successful technical education programs, preferably within the energy, industrial, or technology sectors.
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM), and various learning technologies (LMS, authoring tools, virtual platforms).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, budgets, and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
- Experience with performance metrics, data analysis, and reporting to demonstrate the ROI of training initiatives.
- Proficiency in English and German is mandatory; French and Italian are preferred.
- Ability to travel nationally and internationally.
