Deputy Chief Resident for the Urology Department
The Urology Department is looking for a deputy chief resident starting May 1, 2026, with a workload between 80% - 100%.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Urology Department of the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the two university services in French-speaking Switzerland. It has an 18-bed inpatient clinical unit (with access to 12 additional beds), a consultation unit, a Neuro-Urology Center, and an Endoscopy Center. Furthermore, the urology platform manages, in collaboration with the Oncology Department (DO), the Interdisciplinary Prostate Center, and the Interdisciplinary Bladder Center, all diagnostic activities.
The surgical activity of the Urology Department is spread over 3 separate sites: operating room for open/robotic surgery, operating room for endoscopic surgery, and operating room for outpatient surgery.
Mission
- You supervise, train, and oversee a team of 10 resident physicians responsible for patient care
- You proactively organize their work as well as the daily operation of the department
- You conduct direct consultations with patients
- You ensure responsibility for on-call duties and emergencies of the Department in a fair rotation
- You actively participate in the postgraduate and continuing education of the department and in research and/or organizational activities of the service/sector.
Profile
- You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma or a title recognized by the Federal Commission of Medical Professions (MEBEKO)
- You possess the ISFM urology specialist title or have at least passed the ISFM written and oral exams in urology (in which case you must have 3 years of prior experience in urology)
- You have already demonstrated clinical activity skills and supervision of resident physicians, with responsibility for synthesis and decision-making
- You master French (minimum level B2).
