About the job
Care
Nurse in the Emergency-Crisis Unit of the Department of Psychiatry
The emergency-crisis unit of the liaison psychiatry service is looking for a nurse for a 9-month fixed-term contract at 80%, starting May 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon
Context
The position is attached to the emergency-crisis unit, which handles outpatient psychiatric emergencies, provides psychiatric consultations in somatic emergencies, and offers outpatient crisis follow-ups when necessary
The unit is part of the Liaison Psychiatry Service (PLI), which also includes the CHUV liaison consultation unit, the specialized liaison psychiatry unit, the gender/transgender dysphoria consultation, and the Vaud anorexia bulimia center (abC)
In a context of increasing demands and evolving needs in psychiatric emergencies, the unit is developing an innovative project aimed at improving the quality of care and offering relevant alternatives to hospitalization, with a recovery perspective
This project is based on two main axes:
- The creation of a structured clinical space-time allowing brief and targeted intervention (up to 12 hours) to support the evaluation and mobilization of the patient’s and their network’s resources
- The strengthening of outpatient crisis follow-ups, with intensity adjusted to needs to promote stabilization and organize, if necessary, the transition to appropriate care
This development is part of the first strategic orientation of the development plan of the CHUV Department of Psychiatry
Mission
- You provide frontline care to patients presenting acute psychiatric disorders
- You welcome, assess, and manage psychiatric emergency situations, both in person and by phone (cantonal psychiatric emergency system)
- You participate in the development of an individualized therapeutic project in collaboration with the patient and their entourage
- You provide care that promotes autonomy, taking into account the social and cultural characteristics of patients
- You collaborate, as a consultant, with CHUV somatic emergencies for the care of patients presenting dual diagnoses.
Profile
- You hold a Bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification, with mandatory Red Cross recognition or positive PreCheck
- You have at least 2 years of experience in hospital psychiatry
- You are familiar with the Vaud socio-health network
- You have proven experience working in a multidisciplinary team
- You demonstrate autonomy, proactivity, and strong resilience in emergency situations
- You master common computer tools.
