The St. Gallen Cantonal Police ensures peace, security, and order in the canton of St. Gallen around the clock. It investigates crimes and monitors compliance with applicable laws.
The traffic police, with its three departments, is an interdisciplinary main department with a variety of cross-sector tasks. It monitors the regulations of road traffic and enforces them where necessary. It fulfills this task by daily prevention through its visible presence on the road. In addition, it issues permits, conducts training, and advises municipalities and traffic planners on construction projects.
