Care Asylum Center 100% in Winterthur, temporary (m/f/d)
Caritas Switzerland has been operating asylum centers at various locations in the canton of Zurich on behalf of the canton since March 2024. Since January 1, 2026, and on a temporary basis, we have opened a transit center in the Winterthur area. The center offers space for up to 100 asylum seekers. It is located in an underground facility that meets current requirements for safety, infrastructure, and protection. The premises are functional and purposefully designed to create a pleasant and structured environment for the residents. For the care team, we are looking for flexible and committed persons who are willing to work various shifts including day, night, and weekend duties.
Your tasks
- Accompanying and advising refugees in various everyday matters
- Handling admissions and discharges: providing personal files, admission materials, receiving materials, discharge accounting
- Co-responsibility for conflict management and resolution according to care principles
- Introduction and guidance of cleaning and maintenance of living spaces and implementation of cleaning and hygiene concepts
- Planning, introducing, and guiding house service and errands
- Co-responsibility for compliance with house rules in the center and implementation of the organizational manual regarding safety and emergencies
- Ensuring orderly center operations and a calm atmosphere
- Taking on varying work shifts (including day, night, and weekend duties)
Our requirements
- Completed training and professional experience preferably in care or housekeeping; experience in the migration field desirable
- Good knowledge of the German language as well as good oral skills in English, additional foreign language skills are an advantage
- Good computer skills (especially MS Office and Internet)
- High sense of responsibility, hygiene, and quality awareness
- Initiative, independence, and a high degree of work organization
- Flexibility, resilience, and assertiveness
