The cantonal tax office, together with the municipal tax offices, collects taxes for the federal government, the canton, and the municipalities. We support private individuals and companies throughout the entire tax collection process. Around 800 qualified employees are committed to this at the location in Zurich Altstetten.

At the Cantonal Tax Office Zurich, you take on a central role as Team Leader Accounting & State Tax Accounting for the financial integrity of our community. Your work ensures that public funds are correctly recorded, transparently accounted for, and used responsibly. Together with your team, you contribute to the canton of Zurich reliably fulfilling its duties towards citizens, municipalities, and the federal government. This leadership role combines expertise with purpose – for people, for society, and for a strong public administration.
Since the previous position holder has taken on a new internal leadership role, you now have the opportunity to shape and further develop this responsible position.
Your tasks:
- You lead a committed team both professionally and disciplinarily and create an environment where collaboration and quality are central.
- You ensure that state tax accounting is conducted correctly and on time – including monthly and annual financial statements as well as transparent reporting.
- You are also responsible for the settlement of withholding tax to the ESTV and coordinate asset accounting with the cantonal financial administration.
- You ensure smooth creditor and debtor management and apply your SAP expertise effectively.
- You competently and effectively advise municipalities as well as internal contacts.
- You actively participate in projects and working groups and represent the department with foresight and commitment.
Your profile:
- A completed commercial basic education, supplemented by advanced training such as a federal specialist certificate in finance and accounting.
- You have several years of professional experience in accounting as well as in a leadership role.
- Very good German language skills as well as IT user knowledge in SAP, O365, and BI tools are mandatory for this position.
- Your personality is characterized by analytical skills, a structured way of working, and a high level of initiative.
