About the job
We are opening a unique key position within the Thommen group for future executives. In this role, you will be specifically prepared over 18 to 24 months to take on a management position in one of our recycling companies (Ø 30 employees).
You will work closely with management, familiarize yourself with the strategic and operational management of the company, and gradually take on responsibilities in our production and recycling processes.
After a structured development period, you will be qualified to take on a leadership role in the operational environment of one of our sites and will progressively assume management responsibilities.
What you do...
1. Close collaboration with the CEO / site manager / regional director
- Supporting the CEO/site manager in daily activities and operational decision-making processes
- Analyzing, controlling, and improving internal processes
- Acting as an interface and link between the CEO/site manager/regional director and their direct subordinates
- Preparing strategic and operational decision-making bases
2. Operational and technical training ("on the job")
- Deep immersion in the production and recycling processes of the Thommen group
- Participation in the following areas: management control and key indicators, production management, material flow/material logistics, occupational safety, maintenance and facility management, etc.
- Gradual assumption of your own areas of responsibility
3. Operational leadership and management
- Taking on initial leadership tasks within the team
- Assisting in team planning, resource management, and process optimization
- Collaborating on investment projects, facility modernization, and efficiency improvements
4. Goal after 24 months:
Taking on a position of responsibility within the Thommen group
- Responsibility for site employees, a sub-sector of the site, or in a hierarchical function
- Leadership, budget responsibility, production and quality management
- Implementing the company strategy at the site
What you bring...
- Technical or business management education (e.g., mechanical engineering, metallurgy, production techniques, industrial engineering, or extensive experience in the metallurgical industry, waste disposal, logistics, recycling)
- Operational understanding of production processes
- Willingness to familiarize yourself with technical processes and machinery
- Understanding of leadership, empathy, and decision-making ability
- Analytical mindset, understanding of numbers (basics of management control)
- Communication skills and a taste for responsibility
- Willingness to lead a site within one year
- Fluent command of German and French, both spoken and written
