Medical Practice Assistant 80 - 100%Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The newly created Medical Service main department ensures the medical-somatic basic care for incarcerated persons in all correctional institutions of the Canton of Zurich. As a central organizational unit, it guarantees a harmonized and high-quality health care according to the equivalence principle and works closely with the Psychiatric-Psychological Service and the JuWe institutions.
The Zurich prison, with its 135 places, is the largest remand prison in the Canton of Zurich. During the renovation of the Pfäffikon prison, the security department is temporarily housed in the Zurich prison. This department receives incarcerated persons from detention facilities throughout Switzerland who are dangerous to others or themselves or who have a high risk of escape.
For our health service, we are looking for a committed and dynamic personality by agreement.
This is your area of responsibility
- Accompanying and supporting incarcerated persons in everyday life as well as in crisis situations
- Performing diagnostic and therapeutic measures such as laboratory, ECG, etc.
- First intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies
- Assistance with medical examinations as well as organization of consultations
- Contact point for medical questions and emergencies as well as training of employees in health-related matters
- Preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of medications according to medical prescription
- Management of medications and other aids
- Organization and coordination of appointments as well as participation in administrative processes
- Main responsible person for performance recording according to Tardoc
- Taking over early shifts from Monday to Friday in the health service to ensure continuous care. Holidays and weekend shifts are not planned.
What you bring with you
- Completed training as a Medical Practice Assistant or higher, further training in radiology expertise/radiation protection as well as emergency management is an advantage
- Experience with the practice software SiMed would be an advantage but is not a must
- Interest in the care and support of incarcerated persons of various origins and nationalities
- Flexibility, personal responsibility, and a high degree of social competence
- Interest in continuously learning more about health care
- Very good oral and written German skills, any additional language is an advantage
- Your life experience is a valuable asset: a minimum age of 25 years rounds off your profile
- You have a clean record; that is, a flawless reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
