Catering employee in the Hospitality Service
The Hospitality Service is looking for a catering employee with a workload between 80% - 100% (permanent contract) for its cafeterias and snack bars team. The starting date is planned for January 1, 2026, or to be agreed upon.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals and one of the best in the world according to the 2025 ranking by Newsweek magazine. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading and European-scale role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Hospital Logistics Department (LOH) is tasked with ensuring that care, teaching, and research units can fully focus on their core business by providing and developing efficient logistical operational services (disinfection and maintenance, patient transfers, sterilization, catering, goods transport, stock management, etc.).
The catering sector, cafeterias, kiosks, and snack bars are attached to the Hospitality Service of the Hospital Logistics Department. It is responsible for selling fast food items in self-service at various sales points within the hospital city and external sites. The service offers staff and visitors catering that aligns with the institution's orientation and market offerings.
Mission
- You ensure the setup and service of dishes (self-service, chain, or table service)
- You guarantee the sale and replenishment of buffets (salads, desserts, sandwiches, drinks, ice cream)
- You ensure setup and service for events, including in the reception lounge
- You handle the payment of consumptions
- You maintain the premises and equipment in compliance with institutional hygiene rules
- You adopt a positive and constructive attitude so that every customer always feels welcome and well served
- You manage orders and receipt of products (food and non-food) and/or equipment
- You carry out specific tasks assigned by the hierarchy
- You may be required to cover shifts at different sites.
Profile
- You have at least 3 years of experience in the hotel or catering sector in general
- You are able to work in a hospital environment and comply with institutional hygiene standards
- You master the French language both orally and in writing, level B2 required
- You are willing to work variable hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- You are attentive to the quality of your work, punctual, autonomous, and have a good team spirit.
