ROAD SPORT SAFETY MANAGER

CLOSED ROAD SAFETY ENGINEER (Geneva - Switzerland)

Under the responsibility of the Head of Operational Safety, the Closed Road Safety Engineer will apply their expertise and knowledge to improve safety in Road Sport disciplines, including Rally, Cross-Country and Hill Climb, ranging from national to world championship level.

Travel to race events will be required to meet with ASNs, promoters, event organisers and manufacturers to discuss safety matters at the heart of the action.

MISSIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES:

• Support the FIA Safety Department, ASNs and Road Sport event organisers to identify and effectively manage the safety risks to competitors, volunteers, officials, marshals, the media and spectators;
• Manage operational safety matters related to Road Sport competitions (Rally, Cross-Country, Hill Climb);
• Lead new technology projects to improve safety;
• Develop and maintain best practice guidelines and regulations;
• Conduct detailed accident investigation of incidents, with a particular focus on operational factors;
• Define a budget forecast for deploying the safety strategy.

Management of the Closed Road Commission:

• Define objectives according to the FIA strategy, planning, preparation of meetings, follow-up and end-of-year reporting.

Management of the Safety Delegates team:

• Oversee safety expert selection and on-event deployment;
• Ensure knowledge is shared between the FIA and ASN Safety Delegates;
• Manage turnover of experts.

Management of the Closed Road Safety Task Force:

• Deploy follow-up / safety expert selection / collaboration between the FIA /ASNs / event organisers.

PROFILE:

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in engineering or equivalent
• 10+ years of experience in motor sport, including rally / cross-country / hill climb experience
• Ability to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex technical issues using a first-principles approach of engineering / science
• Knowledge of measures related to motor sport accident prevention and injury mitigation
• Experience in the organisation of racetrack and/or motor sport events
• Excellent English skills; proficiency in another European language would be a plus
• Proficiency in Microsoft and other IT tools designed to enable real-time collaboration between different locations
