Technical Assistance in Forest Structures and Biodiversity 80-100% (m/f/d)
As part of the recently funded international SNSF project « BIOFORMA - Mountain Norway spruce forests under climate change », the research unit „Forest Health and Biotic Interactions“ and its group Forest Entomology offer two 4-6 month positions from April/May 2026 as
You will support the project team in fieldwork in about 25 stands in mountain forests. You will record forest structures in these stands and install traps and recorders to capture the diversity of selected organism groups. You will be responsible for organizing the fieldwork and data control. In addition, you will actively participate in reporting. The proportion of fieldwork is about 80%.
You have a (technical) university degree in forestry, natural or environmental sciences and good forest ecological expertise. You work carefully, precisely and are a flexible, team-oriented and communicative personality. Essential requirements are that you enjoy working in nature and have good physical condition so that you can move safely even on steep slopes. Furthermore, you have a category B driving license, good knowledge of ArcGIS and R, as well as good oral and written skills in German and/or English. Experience in forest inventories and reporting is very welcome. These two positions are limited to a maximum of 6 months and are aimed at people with a recently completed degree.
