Your new role
You are responsible for monitoring and ensuring the smooth operation of the complex waste incineration power plant. This includes monitoring and controlling the technical processes of combustion, energy generation, and flue gas cleaning. Troubleshooting in case of malfunctions, regular inspections of plant components, and participation in maintenance, repair, and cleaning work complete your range of tasks. Training and further education to become a heating plant operator with a federal certificate within 3 years is mandatory and fully supported.
You are suitable for this position if
- You have completed basic training. Technical understanding (mechanics/electrics/building technology) is mandatory.
- You are willing to work regular shift work (early, late, and night shifts) and can integrate into an existing team.
- You have the training to become a heating plant operator with a federal certificate or are willing to obtain the certificate.
- You are in good health, reliable, communicative, and accustomed to working independently.
- You are willing to perform on-call and standby duties.

The modern waste incineration power plant (KHK), operated by Entsorgung St.Gallen, is responsible for the recycling of waste and energy generation from it. The KHK is thus a central pillar of the "Energy Strategy 2050" of the City of St.Gallen. Approximately 80,000 tons of waste are thermally recycled annually in continuous shift operation. Our plant corresponds to the latest technical standards and meets all relevant environmental and safety regulations.
