The EOC, the multisite hospital of Ticino, is present with its institutes throughout the entire cantonal territory for a total of 1,000 beds. The organization effectively combines a local approach with an overall vision, guaranteeing the population a comprehensive and local hospital offer, regardless of where the services are requested. Thanks to the commitment and competence of over 6,500 collaborators and their attention to human relationships, the EOC ensures quality healthcare by caring for over 41,000 inpatients annually and providing over 600,000 outpatient consultations.
The Institute of Integrated Diagnostics of Italian Switzerland (IDISI) brings together the Clinics of radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, and laboratory medicine and, with its approximately 600 collaborators and nearly 4 million exams and analyses performed each year, offers a complete and high-quality diagnostic service, meeting the needs of patients residing throughout the cantonal territory. Overcoming traditional specialist barriers, IDISI adopts a multidisciplinary approach to promote more efficient and personalized diagnostic-therapeutic pathways, capable of responding specifically to the particular needs of each patient. Furthermore, the Institute is oriented towards university teaching and the promotion of biomedical research.
The Laboratory Medicine Clinic offers comprehensive analysis services on biological samples whose results can support the diagnosis and monitoring of diseases. Most of the over 3 million exams performed each year are on human, environmental, and veterinary biological samples.
To complete our team at the Medical Genetics Laboratory of the Laboratory Medicine Clinic, we are looking for a
Head of Medical Genetics Laboratory (80-100%)
Profile:
The ideal candidate shares the EOC values, placing the patient and their family at the center of their work and fostering a positive work environment that promotes well-being, and must demonstrate the ability to:
- ensure the execution of medical genetics analyses (cytogenetics and molecular biology) respecting timelines, protocols, and quality standards;
- coordinate the team with effective leadership consistent with EOC values;
- handle high workloads while maintaining calm and professionalism even under pressure;
- possess the technical skills necessary to guarantee high-quality analyses and support laboratory activities;
- interact effectively with the IDISI Management team and medical genetics specialists;
- be open and flexible, with a strong attitude towards innovation and change.
Objectives and expected results: - ensure continuous improvement of the quality of services offered;
- develop and implement new diagnostic methods in line with the technological evolution of human medical genetics;
- optimize laboratory processes to increase operational efficiency;
- promote the continuous professional development of the team, with particular attention to training and skills growth.
Required qualifications:
- solid experience in the field of human medical genetics (cytogenetics and molecular biology);
- experience in personnel management, focusing on continuous development and improvement;
- ability to draft validations and verifications of new methods;
- experience in quality system management;
- knowledge of the Ticino and Swiss healthcare system;
- good computer skills (Microsoft Office); knowledge of the Metasystems management software will be considered a plus;
- good knowledge of Italian and English, spoken and written;
- knowledge of a second national language (French and/or German) is desirable;
- availability to work in Bellinzona (location: SMIC Building, via Mirasole 22 A).
Preferred qualifications:
- experience as a laboratory head
- diploma in team management or equivalent
