The Civil Engineering Office with its approximately 160 employees takes care of the city streets, pipelines, green spaces, and playgrounds, in short: various infrastructures that shape the daily life of the population. The city nursery at Pestalozzistrasse 48 in Thun is part of the Civil Engineering Office in the Support and Services division of the city of Thun. It produces a variety of plants for the flower shop, the city cemeteries, as well as for the seasonal floral decorations of the city of Thun.

From August 1, 2026, we offer an apprenticeship in the city nursery
Your tasks:
- Propagating and cultivating ornamental plants for indoor and outdoor areas
- Planting and maintaining gravesites, flower boxes, and troughs as well as overwintering container plants
- Use of beneficial organisms and plant treatment products
- Final sale, customer advice, and product presentation in the flower shop
- Maintenance of cultivation facilities, machines, and equipment
You bring with you:
- Good education in natural sciences, mathematics, and languages
- Joy and interest in plants and nature
- Good imagination and enjoyment of working with machines
- Willingness to work outdoors in all weather and to support weekend or holiday shifts
- Manual and technical skills and physical fitness
