Specificity
The Swiss Centre for Islam and Society (CSIS) at the University of Fribourg is a competence center addressing current issues related to Islam in Switzerland with a focus on Islamic self-reflection. We offer a dynamic research environment within an interdisciplinary and multilingual team as well as international research collaborations. The CSIS is active in both fundamental and applied research. Furthermore, it cooperates with various academic, governmental, and civil society institutions. The coordinator position is located at the interface of research, teaching, and the organization of the Centre. The position is fixed-term for five years (with a doctorate) or until December 2027 (without a doctorate).

Field of activity
Coordination of the Master’s program "Islam and Society" (course program, collaborations, publicity, communication and marketing with target groups);
Collaboration in the development and consolidation of the profile of Islamic-theological Studies;
Teaching;
Project design and acquisition of third-party funding.
Requirements
Preferably a doctorate, otherwise a Master’s in Islamic-theological Studies, Islamology, religious studies, or another social sciences or humanities discipline closely related to Islam;
Strong interest in research and network in the field of Islamic-theological Studies, familiarity with international discussions on the development of the discipline;
Experience in writing project proposals and implementing projects;
Very good knowledge of Muslims in Switzerland and Europe;
Ability to work independently and very good organization;
Teamwork and communication skills;
Very good knowledge of German and English.
