Criminology technicians provide support during criminal investigations. Scientific police specialists secure traces at the crime scene and document them using modern procedures. They handle the processing of personal identification data and use technical and scientific methods to secure traces, collect evidence, and analyze it. In this way, they create a reliable basis usable in court for investigations and criminal proceedings.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for a scientific police officer starting on a date to be agreed upon.
Tasks
- Specialist advice to intervention forces on issues related to securing traces and activities at the crime scene
- Search and securing of traces related to various criminal cases
- Scientific police activities at the crime scene, including securing evidence and documentation
- Photographic documentation of crime scenes, persons, incidents, and traces
- Execution of personal identification data measures and identification work
- Trace and laboratory analysis in the fields of classical and scientific criminology as well as qualitative evaluation of traces
- Preparation of scientific police reports and securing of evidence usable in court as well as preparation of material evidence for investigating and prosecuting authorities
- Ensuring compliance with standards, guidelines, and legal requirements
- Further development of methods, devices, and processes of scientific police work
- On-call service and weekend duty
What we expect from you
- Completed studies in forensic sciences or criminology (University of Lausanne or equivalent training) or federal professional certificate as a police officer with professional experience in the judicial police sector, preferably in scientific police
- Willingness to pursue continuous training and professional development in scientific police and forensic sciences
- Strong interest in scientific police work and criminology
- Strong sense of responsibility and careful handling of traces and evidence, as these are often unique and non-reproducible
- Good legal knowledge as well as understanding of criminal procedural law and legal framework conditions
- Structured, precise, and independent working method as well as insight
- Strong digital skills and aptitude for using IT tools and technical analysis and intervention devices
- Ability to assert oneself, flexibility, and high mental resilience, especially in interventions in particularly difficult situations (e.g., violent crimes, major accidents, presence of deceased persons)
