Assistant physician in training for the specialist title "Prevention and Public Health" 50 - 80%The Office of Health of the Canton of Zurich ensures a high-quality and economically sustainable healthcare system in the Canton of Zurich. It guarantees seamless medical treatment and care and promotes the health of the Zurich population.
The Cantonal Medical Service acts as a link between medicine, the population, and politics, responsible for promoting and monitoring public health as well as controlling communicable diseases. In cooperation with the Institute of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Prevention (EBPI) at the University of Zurich, we offer a category A training position to obtain the specialist title "Prevention and Public Health".
For this purpose, we are looking for an assistant physician "Prevention and Public Health" (50-80%) starting August 1, 2026, or by agreement, limited to the duration of the specialist training.
Your tasks
- Exceptional commitment to the health of the Zurich population as part of our eleven-member team
- Familiarization with tasks related to the prevention and control of diseases and promotion of public health
- Understanding the interaction between federal, cantonal, municipal authorities and other stakeholders in the health sector
- Active support in monitoring and combating communicable diseases
- Participation in public health projects and involvement in interdisciplinary working groups in health authority decision-making processes
- Support in advising and communicating with professionals, institutions, and the public on health topics
- Gaining experience in other institutions of the training network in the field of public health depending on interests and opportunities
Your profile
- Medical state examination (CH) or MEBEKO recognition
- At least two years of clinical activity in a training institution recognized for a Swiss specialist title
- Commitment and interest in public health topics and health policy processes
- Structured, pragmatic, and solution-oriented working style
- Organizational and communication skills as well as enjoyment in dealing with the population, health professionals, and other stakeholders
