Nurse for the Violence Medicine Unit
Contribute to a human and medico-legal mission serving victims of violence!
The Violence Medicine Unit (UMV) of the University Center for Forensic Medicine of Western Switzerland (CURML) is recruiting a nurse at 40% – 50% for a permanent contract, starting December 1, 2025. The position is based in Lausanne, with interventions at other sites in the canton.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a reference role in care, training, and medical research.
Created in 2006, the UMV fulfills three main missions:
- Provide victims of violence with specialized medico-legal consultation
- Offer counseling, training, and teaching activities
- Develop research on interpersonal violence
Present on four sites (CHUV, Yverdon-les-Bains, Rennaz, Nyon), the UMV has been recognized as a national best practice model, notably for conducting medico-legal consultations by trained nurses.
Mission
- You ensure the care of victims of violence according to medico-legal standards: clinical examination, documentation of injuries, taking photographs, preparation of files for medico-legal reports
- You guide patients within the psycho-social network of the canton of Vaud
- You contribute to the development of the UMV by participating in the organization of information sessions and training activities.
Profile
- You hold a HES bachelor’s degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification, ideally complemented by a CAS "interpersonal violence: aspects and medico-legal care"
- You have at least 5 years of clinical experience in acute somatic care, emergency, psychiatry, or community care
- You master spoken and written French and have excellent writing skills
- You have good knowledge of English (an asset)
- You demonstrate strong listening skills, scientific rigor, good synthesis ability, and a strong sense of responsibility
- You are comfortable with canton-wide mobility and flexible to work weekends and public holidays.
