The Gender Campus at the University of Bern seeks a project assistant (40%) starting January 2026. This temporary role focuses on transforming educational spaces to address racism and promote intersectionality.
Tasks
- Assist in creating and publishing a book on the project.
- Help organize a conference and networking events for the initiative.
- Manage communication and networking with partners and affected communities.
Skills

About the job
The editorial team of the Gender Campus at the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Research (IZFG) at the University of Bern is looking for a project assistant (40%) from January 2026, limited until March 31, 2027, within the framework of the project „ Transforming Educational Spaces: Addressing Racism, Anchoring Intersectionality “
• Collaboration in the creation and publication of a book publication
• Collaboration in organizing a conference as well as networking meetings
• Networking work: maintaining contacts, preparing and conducting exchange formats, coordinating communication with partners and affected networks
• Collaboration in a podcast production (coordination of guests, recording, editing, publication)
- Administrative and organizational support in project management
- Editorial collaboration on project communication (website, press releases)
- Maintenance of project documents, databases, and mailing lists
• Experience in anti-racism work with an intersectional perspective; solid knowledge in racism research as well as postcolonial/decolonial studies.
• Strong organizational skills
• Very careful, independent, and team-oriented working style
• Good knowledge of German, French, and English
• University degree (MA) or advanced studies in cultural studies, gender studies, or related social and humanities sciences
• Advantageous: experience in film and podcast production, event organization, and handling digital tools (CMS, mailing lists)
