The University of Bern educates over 19,400 students and employs more than 8,000 staff across around 150 institutes as well as the central administration. It uses a highly diverse spatial infrastructure spread over approximately 130 properties for these activities. The Department of Operations and Technology is responsible for the efficient and economical operation of buildings.
The Facility Services Division – divided into housekeeping teams, gardening, and logistics – ensures smooth and trouble-free building and university operations on site with its extensive range of services. For the team leadership of the housekeeping team for highly equipped laboratory buildings, we are looking for an experienced and motivated professional who enjoys and is ambitious about achieving excellent team performance as well as the associated responsible leadership role.
Tasks
- Leading the housekeeping team with eight professionals in technically demanding laboratory buildings
- Ensuring efficient organization for building cleaning, waste disposal, minor maintenance, building security, event management, small relocations, and access systems
- Planning deployment and ensuring shift and on-call services
- Implementing specialist strategies and participating in cross-departmental projects
- Interest in complex building and security technology as well as competent fault analysis
- Operational participation in housekeeping and taking over individual duties as needed
- On-site contact person for users; independently solving or coordinating concerns
Requirements
- Completed vocational training (EFZ) in building technology HVAC, electrical engineering, or facility maintenance; further education (HFP/Bachelor) in caretaking, building technology, or facility management
- Experience in housekeeping for larger properties, ideally with laboratory and special technology
- Manual skills, reliability, and teamwork ability
- Good IT skills (Office, building automation); experience with ticketing/CAFM systems (Planon) is an advantage
- Flexibility to cover site-related operating hours as needed
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form
