About the job
The Museum of Design Zurich is the leading Swiss museum for design and visual communication. Its collection unites over half a million objects from graphic and design history and is of international significance. As part of the Zurich University of the Arts ZHdK, the museum is involved in research and teaching and regularly publishes its own publications. At its three locations in Zurich - at Ausstellungsstrasse, on the Toni-Areal university campus, and in the Le Corbusier Pavilion - as well as with traveling exhibitions and in the digital space, the museum reaches a broad, international audience.
The museum café in the main building on Ausstellungsstrasse offers its guests a largely vegetarian selection of fresh food and drinks – from sandwiches as well as coffee and cake to salads, soups, and simple lunch menus.

Your tasks
- Preparation, presentation, and sale of the offered dishes, such as various cakes and lunch menus
- Ensuring compliance with hygiene regulations in the preparation of food, storage, and sales
- Ordering food and consumables
- Proper and hygienic cleaning work and equipment maintenance in the kitchen as well as in the serving and consumption area
- Ensuring waste disposal / recycling
- Correct cash management and daily revenue accounting
- Participation in team meetings
- Substitution for the cook during absence
- Assistance in the preparation and execution of aperitifs
Your profile
We are looking for a flexible and reliable personality with proven professional experience in gastronomy (including food preparation). You enjoy customer contact as well as working behind the scenes. You think ahead and proactively, have a friendly and well-groomed appearance, are service-oriented, and have a high sense of responsibility. Excellent German skills as well as oral English skills complete your profile.

What you can expect from us
We offer you a versatile role in a small team of four people and a lively, exciting environment. Working hours are based on the museum's opening hours, i.e., flexible availability for early and late shifts as well as weekend assignments is expected. Your workplace is located in the historic main building on Ausstellungsstrasse.
