Supervisor / Caregiver Correctional Services 80 - 100%
Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and employs around 1,400 staff with diverse professional profiles. JuWe is responsible for criminal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For JuWe employees, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Pfäffikon Prison (GFP) operates, in addition to classic pre-trial detention, a security department for all types of detention. The security department houses detainees from all over Switzerland who require special personnel care and structural measures due to mental illness, an increased risk of escape, or high potential for violence. The GFP is currently under renovation, and reopening is planned for mid-2026.
For our correctional services, we are looking for a committed, dynamic, and highly motivated individual starting February 2026 or by agreement, who works with passion and team spirit.
Until the GFP reopens, you will temporarily work at Zurich Prison, where most of the Pfäffikon team is deployed during the renovation.
Your area of responsibility
- You supervise, advise, and lead the detainees with clarity, empathy, and a sense of responsibility
- In challenging situations, you keep a cool head, recognize crises early, and ensure a safe, calm prison routine
- You support the personal development of inmates and actively contribute to their reintegration
- In the control center, you keep an overview of all security systems, coordinate emergencies, and ensure smooth operations during walks and internal transfers
- You also maintain an overview administratively. You write reports and document events reliably and precisely
- Shift, weekend, night, and special duties are as natural to you as contributing to quality assurance and the further development of operations
What you bring
- A completed education (federal vocational certificate, (specialized) Matura or equivalent qualification)
- Very good German skills as well as good knowledge of at least one other language and confident IT user skills
- A communicative, responsible, and resilient personality who remains calm even in demanding situations
- Flexibility, humor, and team spirit. You actively contribute and help foster a respectful and supportive team environment
- A minimum age of 25 years and an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal or debt register)
What makes this position special
- You can expect a versatile and responsible role in an exciting and extraordinary work environment
- You actively help shape a culture in which dealing with people in correctional services is respectful, reflective, binding, and consistent
- You benefit from a wide range of training and further education opportunities that advance you personally and professionally
- And yes, the employment conditions with the canton are truly attractive
