Cataract Surgery
The cataract surgery is by far the most common surgery in ophthalmology and one of the most common surgeries on the human body overall.
In Switzerland, around 100,000 cataract surgeries are performed annually.
For the patient to be able to see and read perfectly again after cataract surgery, it is necessary that no other eye diseases (e.g., of the optic nerve or retina) are present.
Such changes may not be reliably recognized by the doctor in some cases due to the existing lens opacity before the procedure.
