The Oncology Department provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for adult patients suffering from cancerous diseases and supports patients and their relatives. The goal is to ensure access to the best anticancer treatment, offer tailored care, and anticipate the needs of hospitalized patients (bone marrow transplant, cell therapy, immunotherapy, etc.). Together, the Cancer Center coordinates cross-sectional activities dedicated to cancer issues between services and departments.
It includes 4 services (hematology, oncology, precision oncology, and radio-oncology) and is composed of about 300 employees.
The Hematology Service provides diagnostic and therapeutic care for patients suffering from benign or malignant blood diseases, whether hospitalized or outpatient.
The service is involved in various clinical and translational research activities, in cooperation with the University of Geneva, and is also involved in several cooperative groups: SAKK, EBMT, GRAALL, SFGM-TC, HOVON, CML German study group, CLL German study group, etc…
Several rotations are carried out during the semester, under the direct supervision of a senior attending physician and deputy. Rotations include hospitalization (intensive treatment, Allogeneic HSCT, CAR-T & bispecifics) as well as outpatient follow-up of allografted patients (consultations and day hospital). Rotations also include the lymphoma and myeloma unit as well as the myeloid pathology and blood disease unit, in outpatient clinic and hospitalization.
The program also includes participation in integrative hematology diagnostics, including cytology, flow cytometry, and the possibility to contribute to intra-hospital consultation activities. Depending on availability, rotations may include immunohematology, transfusion medicine and apheresis, as well as hemostasis.
Job Description
You will care for patients treated by hematopoietic stem cell transplantation as well as hematological problems such as acute leukemias, lymphomas, and other malignant and benign hematopathies.
You ensure quality medical services, both clinically, administratively, and organizationally.
You contribute to the training of resident physicians.
Alongside your activity, you have the opportunity to benefit from quality postgraduate training contributing to obtaining the specialist title in hematology.
As a reference center in French-speaking Switzerland for allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the coordination of two institutional boards for the care of patients with hematopathies in the canton of Geneva, we offer you the opportunity to manage the full spectrum of clinical hematology pathologies (malignant and benign).
You will be integrated into a dynamic team composed of 15 senior physicians and 7 internal physicians.
Qualifications
You hold a medical degree or have training deemed equivalent by the Medical Professions Commission (MEBEKO).
For non-French speakers, a C1 level in spoken and written French is required.
You have good knowledge of internal medicine.
You demonstrate excellent communication skills in a multidisciplinary team and with patients. You are autonomous, flexible, and committed.
You have a curious, involved personality and appreciate teamwork.
